One has to to love old books and history, but it gives some excellent cultural background of west and north Africa! I am so glad to have found this ancient book because of the wealth of cultural understanding that it gives of the late 1700s in that part of Africa. It has come of the inaccuracies of early explorers, but that is because of when it was written. The Niger is Nile. There is also one of the best pictures of old Timbuktu that one will find probably nowhere else!Product details

Another piece added to the puzzle.
A dated but interesting collection of information dealing with Africa of centuries past.
It was published in 1820 and reflects Africa of the prior years. The organization was different that what I am used to in that a great deal of ancillary information is placed after the text, including letters and other information that did not seem to have another home.
I expect that it would be of more interest to scholars than a casual reader.
