Arianna, owner of Freedom Gallery of Contemporary Art, is unexpectedly jilted by her longtime boyfriend Justin. She is in total shock when she finds he had been having an affair on the side. He also managed to clean out both of her bank accounts, which she had been foolish enough to add his name to. She is bitter and feels she will never trust another another man.
Ben is a thirty-seven year old successful engineer, who fell several stories when the scaffolding failed while he was out checking a construction site they had going. He was injured so badly that he had to be placed in a coma for two months plus emergency brain surgery. His present girlfriend ran out on him because she was worried she might be forced to be his caregiver so she just disappeared with no explanation. This was a shock to Ben, never considering that she would not be his future. Ben is turned off by love, but over the two months following the coma, he has such terrible headaches that it takes hours of pain killers so that he can stand them. Ben was allowed a six-months leave of absence while he heals and lives in the company’s lovely apartment. Ben sees the ad about the paintings for show at Arianna’s gallery and decides he’d see if he could find a painting for himself.
Ben and Arianna immediately find themselves attracted to each hour the moment they met each other at the gallery showing. Ben bought a painting and they began to see each other continuously. They each felt that they had experienced such love before and they became passionate lovers. Ben never told Arianna about his past health problems. Ben’s brother Tristan, whose girlfriend had been killed in a car accident, also fell immediately in love Arianna the first moment they met, but he never let Arianna or Ben know.
Eventually Arianna gets pregnant and Ben is delighted, but in the meantime disappointing events intrude in their lives, causing Arianna, Ben and Tristan to draw closer as a family to face a possibly devastating future. This is a nice love story, but often the same colorful phrases are used to describe their love or the events passing. It may be because this is an English author and her usual form of English, but at time the story line drags because of so much explanations.
Although this hasn’t been the best romance I have read and it had many of the usual sad and upsetting events found in romances, it is entertaining and has its own emotional appeal.

It is an excellent choice for a few hour's reading

If I had the money I would buy the next one
Another book that got boring fast for me. There are some Authors that can pack a punch in their writing and others just give too much meaningless details. This I file under "others". I tried to make it to the "tear jerker" (as someone headlined in their review) but it didn't come fast enough for me. Even tried skipping pages but it didn't work. Gave it 3 stars because I felt the plot of the story was hopeful.
Gallery Owner meets Ex Workaholic, now recovering victim of a work oriented accident and sparks fly. But unfortunately circumstances cut their ties short, and both the reader and characters are left devestated at the end result.

I think the author did a great job capturing the love between Ben and Arianna and introducing the very hard topic of death and second chances beautiful, although still very depressing.

I'm glad that Ben was able to find his happiness and peace considering his situation. I feel so sad for Arianna and Tristan both but am interested to see where they go.

I bawled my eyes out. If you're a tear jerker, you may not want to read this. Overall, an incredibly well written piece of literature reaking of second and third chances, love, pain, death and hope. I recommend.
Although sad on the one hand, the writer weaves a story of true love. I think there is a lesson here of the stages of coping with ones death and the anger, frustration and acceptance of what will happen. The ending was a little disappointing -- but I am ready to read the sequel although it appears a given Ben's brother Tristin and Ariania may get together - I'm sure there will be trials along that path.
Thi is an Excellent story , well written gets to thepoint with out being muldane or redunant. It's very true if you have experienced rejection and loss of a love. This book teaches one how to go on bravely in several ways with dignitary when life is not playing out happily ever after.
It teaches you to finally accept the inevitable as well.

One of the best books I have read in a long time. Loved it from page one. The characters are so real and likeable, just like the friends I prefer ...artists, gallery, photography, small town, friendly customers, waterfront, just everything I enjoy reading about. The story line kept me riveted to every page. Theme was familiar to my own life. It was interesting to read how Arianna handled her problems. She was a remarkable woman, involved with remarkable people. I enjoyed every page and cannot wait to read the sequel. Loved the writing. Added to my list of favorite authors. CLB
This story is so full of love and unbearable sadness. Arianna comes home to find her boyfriend leaving her and he wipes out her bank account. Ben wakes up in the hospital after a near fatal fall and a month in a coma to find his girlfriend left him. His brother Tristan throws his girlfriend out when she cheats on him AGAIN. But all three come together. Ben and Arianna fall in love, but Tristan also is in love.
Unfortunately this love is torn apart by something no one saw coming or could defeat, leaving unimaginable pain and grief behind for the surviving members. During the story you knew what was going to happen because Ben kept dreaming it almost every night.
This is a good story but impossible to not read the next book. We need to learn what's next for our characters.
