Spoiler alert: I know the author. The author has worked with a number of highly competent professionals including Clint Eastwood, John Savage, Dennis Hopper, and ac host of other folks whose names you may not recognize because are BEHIND the camera. I've known him quite a while, and I know he knows what he's talking about. I think this book is amazing, inspired and visionary. He sees more clearly than anybody I've talked to, where film is headed. The cost alone of trying to make an independent film that will sell is just one reason why this is a cautionary tale. There are some problems typos, etc. in this book. that's the only thing keeps it from being 5 stars. The author tells me these problems will be cleared up in subsequent printings. I believe that this a must-read for anyone seriously interested in filmmaking.Product details

What you have here is more in the nature of a memoir. Which would be fine if this guy was famous enough that we wanted to know his story. I was more interested in what lessons he had learned about moviemaking.
DW has lived to tell of the highs and lows of working the low budget genre world - alongside larger budget forays into Hollywood's elite inner circle. This is a no-holds barred personal journey through his Cine apocalypse and I loved every minute of it. Insightful, cautionary and often hilarious, DW is a phenomenal teacher and talent. Not to be missed.
Great combination of insight, anecdotes and advice. Particularly fun to read if you knew any of the characters or were toiling in Hollywood at the time.
Beautifully written and very valid. David Worth knows what he is saying, as he has actually MADE films. Highly recommended
